Blog Topic #4: What is RSS?

With ever changing content on the websites, like blogs RSS is used to organize their content on an organized fashion.

So that is RSS? RSS stands for Rich Site Summary.  "It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like Yahoo News."-http://www.whatisrss.com/

To use RSS to be updated on information on fellow students it makes it  easy to be notified when your website you are subscribed to has posted new content.

What is an aggregation? An aggregation is a feed reader, and by having one installed onto the website it allows those subscribed of new content.

Why is this not as popular as it was before? Many think popular websites like  Twitter, Facebook, Instagram do a better job of keeping the user informed on the latest content.
