Blog Topic #14: What's the difference between UI and UX?

What is UI?

UI stands for User interface and has to do with  "machines and software, such as computers, home appliances, mobile devices, and other electronic devices, with the focus on maximizing usability and the user experience."-Wikipedia

In other words this applies more to the back end of design with more technical application.

What is UX?

UX is "the process of enhancing user satisfaction with a product by improving the usability, accessibility, and pleasure provided in the interaction with the product."-Wikipedia

In other words it is what the user physically sees and experiences while using the site.

What do UI and UX designers do?

UI designers are responsible for how the site or platform looks and feels
UX is more of the process of research, testing, development, content, and prototyping to test for quality results. So basically UX is more of the bones of the vesicle making sure that everything works correctly.
